On Oct. 28, ShockWatch teamed up with our creative partner of the past three years, MODassic Marketing, for a day of service in Graham, TX. Modassic spearheaded the event as part of CreateAthon — a pro bono national 24-hour marketing event. ShockWatch and Modassic joined forces to benefit Virginia’s House, a local child protection and intervention charity.
Virginia’s House has been serving Graham and surrounding communities for 20 years and is the only non-profit organization to be involved directly in the protection of children from child abuse in Young, Stephens, and Jack counties. They work through coordinated teams that include investigations with law enforcement, Child Protective Services, the District Attorney’s Office, and the County Attorney’s Office.
While Graham has been home to the ShockWatch manufacturing facility for the past 40 years, Modassic, based in Richardson, Texas, had to pack up all of its equipment, including computers and video gear, and transport it over two hours to Graham. The services they provided included website design and development, copywriting, video production, and social campaigns.
“Design is a powerful thing, and we [had] the opportunity to bring new life to Virginia’s House and change lives,” said Ryan Short, Modassic founder and creative director.
While Modassic worked on marketing tools, the ShockWatch staff spent the day at Virginia’s House working at the facility. A mural was created on the entry sidewalk, fences were built, and general repair and restoration of the premises were completed.
“The Graham community is very important to ShockWatch and we were humbled to help the team at Virginia's House in creating a safe, comfortable environment for defenseless victims of child abuse,” said ShockWatch CEO Tony Fonk.
Other participants also shared their thoughts:
“It was one of the most inspirational and heartwarming experiences I have ever the privilege to attend. The women that work for this marvelous organization are simply wonderful. I feel blessed to have met them.” – Cynthia Ross, Sales Manager – Great Lakes Region
“It was the best team building ever. Giving back to this charity was incredibly rewarding. Being a former CASA volunteer, I have a true appreciation for what Virginia's house means to the community and the children they serve. The team work by everyone was overwhelming, pitching in to do whatever, laughing and working with people you don't generally get to see in this type environment…. Awesome, awesome way to spend the day. It was a joy being around this very wonderful group of ladies, so humble and thankful.” – Cheryl Stroup, Sales Manager – Central Region
